My love for tutoring comes from the joy I get from helping others. A natural problem solver, I look for ways to help others help themselves. I recently graduated with a Bachelors in Educational Studies with a minor in Child Development and a specialization in English Language Learners. This specialization has opened my eyes to what I believe is the most important part of my pedagogy, that I understand that everyone comes to the table with different strengths, needs, interests and experiences, which also means each student learns different. While these differences can cause gaps in understanding and demonstration of mastery, as your tutor, I look to bridge those gaps through the use of teaching strategies that make content comprehensible to the student to ensure understanding. I have many years of experience with elementary and middle school students with much of my latest focus on reading comprehension and math. Additionally, with just recently completely my degree, I am very skilled at college level writing.
I believe anyone who sets attainable goals and makes a commitment to themselves to strive for achievement, can reach it. This commitment to yourself includes a commitment to me. I expect that you will uphold all scheduled appointments and come prepared for the session. That being said "life happens", I understand that. This is why, while I have a cancellation policy I offer make up times for missed appointments. Hi Everyone,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
