I use the Orton-Gillingham, multi-sensory approach to teaching, which uses visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods. Students will receive systematic, phonics instruction, which is an essential part of any successful, reading program. Let me help your child experience academic success, self-confidence, and a higher self-esteem.

If the parents fail to show up without prior notice, they will be charged for that session. I would greatly appreciate letting me know ahead of time about a cancellation.
She really helped my high schooler break down the fundamentals of writing, allowing him to learn through his ADHD and excel in class with excellent marks!!!! We are very grateful and plan to go back to her when the next English class is scheduled.
Barbara is phenomenal! Not only was Barbara creative and patient, and but she made it fun. Our reluctant reader couldn't wait to get to Barbara's tutoring session each week. After working with Barbara intensively over the summer, our child is now not only enjoys reading, but is reading above grade level. The skills and tools that our child learned have made all the difference in her confidence and abilities. So much so, that she no longer needs additional tutoring. We've had an amazing experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Barbara!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I worked at Cape Fear Academy for 15 years, and one of my duties as a Learning Skills Teacher was to assist students with study skills. I don't feel as though I need additional instruction in order to teach it. Learning study skills goes along with teaching children with ADD, which is one of my specialties.
