I've spent a year+ teaching English as a foreign language in South America only a year ago; we played at it as much as I could bring that into the sessions. It's important to me to try to make the learning process feel good. I ask lots of questions to get you to think about what you're working with & encourage you to figure it out; I provide information, and we do alot of skill building practice. If we need to, we do some research together. I encourage you, give you reminders, & give you the facts about what needs to be corrected or improved.

My experience has been in Language Arts--Grammar, Literature, Vocabulary, Reading, Writing+; I'm good with Math, Algebra, Languages--especially Spanish & ESL, though I have some background in German, Latin & French; I'm an artist with extensive experience in dance & Theater--expressive arts.

I've worked with elementary, middle & high-school people, as well as special needs folks. I like providing support. What's your challenge? your project? your assignment? I intend to support you as you accomplish it.

Having studied and received TESOL certification in 2007, I found work in a language institute in Chile, SA and moved there to teach. I enjoy using unconventional and creative methods for helping folks learn--going to the local market to practice saying the names of foods and playing games that cause the players to use words they are learning. I have had the pleasure of working with people that were beginners in English, and watching them become intermediate speakers, with both comprehension and reading proficiency. I have studied both Spanish and ASL extensively, having become adept at each, and I have a sense of what is needed to learn languages.

Elementary (K-6th)

The beginning of each part of education is of so much importance; to find interest and be able to grasp the ideas that are in the lessons can help setup a life-long pleasure in learning. To learn by experience/ by doing is of deep value, as well as by using books. So, as I offer teachings of numbers into math, letters into reading comprehension, writing into creating reports, bugs, animals and rocks into science experiments, I intend to make each subject engaging and full of interest for the individual student. Elementary school is a foundation for all we will be absorbing in other stages of education. The basics we are presented with in those first 6+ years can be used throughout our lives as we read, communicate, investigate, balance our check books, or meet new ideas & concepts. I am prepared to offer a full-range of reading, arithmetic/ math, science, writing, health, geography/ cultural explorations language arts, and whatever other interests we are able to stimulate in your child/ student. We do this together by discovering what engages him/ her and approaching the lessons with that in mind. I have had the opportunity to support young folks learning all areas of Kindergarten through 6th grade. Allow me to assist yours.

Writing is another way of talking, though there's some guidelines and ways of putting the words together--with symbols and punctuation--that help anyone understand what you intend to say. If you choose to learn about writing, you can express yourself in powerful and fun ways to people anywhere in the world and enjoy doing it.
