I am a senior at my high school and I am a tutor for the students there and I thoroughly enjoy tutoring. I am going to college next year for my bachelor's in mechanical engineering. From there I want to get a graduate degree in bio-medical engineering and eventually a PhD in genetics.
I enjoy tutoring because it enables me to think through the things I've learned and helps give me a better understanding of the material. I also take studying seriously in a lighthearted way, so I'll come up with games and fun ways to learn and memorize something. I like when the topic clicks with the student and that look of accomplishment on their face makes me feel like I did my job. I feel like tutoring is easier for me because I am around the same age as most of the people I tutor and this helps me communicate the materials in ways that can help because I like to connect things to pop culture and inject humor into studying because I feel that humor and connections are both really great ways at retaining information that you would otherwise deem useless.
I love tutoring science because of how the different parts come together and everything from ecology and evolution to biochemistry and genetics can all come together to make up a single natural phenomenon.
History is a really fun subject to me because at its core it's cause and effect, but it connects to other points in history, things overlap and parallel, and history is a dramatic subject that touches all points in time and connects current events to things that occurred several hundred years ago on the opposite corner of the world.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I took Honors and AP Biology at my high school and passed both with exceptionally high grades. I did not find the classes to be a struggle and I have a variety of study methods that I used to understand all of the material very well.
Ecology was a very large part of Honors Biology and AP Biology. I also took Honors Earth and Environmental Science and passed these three courses with high grades.
I took World History in high school and have been interested in World History since I was in middle school. I did very well in World History and I continue to learn new information about it.
