Math Loving Mom Ready to Help

For the last 6 years I've been leading a team of accounting professionals helping them evolve in their love and knowledge of numbers. I love to see individuals come to understand the how and why to the problems they are trying to solve. I also have strong Microsoft Excel skills and would also love to teach how to understand the logic in data to set an individual up for success in using this tool.
In my personal life I have a 6th grader who is learning math (Geometry) through the Common Core methods. We often find that these methods are different than how I learned and also my parents learned. I have been able to teach and explain the same methods in other ways that seems to help him understand the process better and/or how to check his work in a quicker manner. He has really appreciated the lack of rigidness and adaptability to the way he learns that this instruction offers as our teachers are forced to teach in this standard manner.

I absolutely love math! I work with my 6th grader on his math homework helping him to understand how to problem solve and work through tough subjects. I have taken up to Calculus courses throughout earning my degrees, but definitely have a preference to middle school and below math that is also what the GED certification tends to lean toward. I have been in accounting since 2004 in many capacities, so I also enjoy sharing knowledge and helping those that have a general love for these courses to grow but also to help those that might be forced to take it as part of their degree and find it less desirable :)
