Hey there, my name is Mr. Jerome, and I am a special education teacher. I have been a teacher for 4 years, having taught in elementary, middle, and high school. In addition, I have tutored both privately, and through a after-school program. I enjoy seeing students grow both academically and socially.
A little about me. I moved to Raleigh almost 5 years ago. I transferred my job here as a traveling counselor, before becoming a school teacher. I enjoy quite evenings at home, followed by exercising, cooking, hanging out with friends, and with my dog Kobe. I really love forward to getting to know you and working with you soon. Cheers for now!
I believe in providing a array of opportunities for students to growth mathematically! In doing so, I start with how the student learns best, and develop activities and manipulatives that tailor around the support that is needed. I also am a visual learner as well, and believe through continuous practice and visual representation, that learning takes place.
I believe all students can learn. I enjoy working with this population of students. It's fun to see them grow both academically and socially. The key to learning is the ability to put forth the effort, and be open to a variety of ways to learn. With my experience, compassion, and educational background, I believe I display the skills necessary to help a student learn.
I have many years of experience working with special needs children and families in various capacities. Some examples include: social work (group home setting, foster care, case management), mentor (big brother, big sister, helping hands mentor), and a special education teacher (elementary, middle, and high school)-co taught-English, study skills, reading, writing, and math.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
