Brunswick Community College (Science)
I am a college student that chose to major in science focusing on pre-medical. I plan on staying in state when I transfer, and aim to get my medical degree specializing in neurology. I moved from the D.C. Metropolitan area to Holden Beach, North Carolina in the beginning of 2015. I spend time volunteering at Dosher Hospital when I don't have other obligations. Besides tutoring I have also taught chess classes to K-6th grade and after school Science classes.
I previously tutored for multiple kids before and was able to get them to feel comfortable with the material and be able to understand it. I did this while I was still in high school and later with the children I nannied.
I obtained a private school education in Northern Virginia with its main focus on grammar, literacy, comprehension, and writing.
I have done lots of after school tutoring for elementary, middle, and high school students.
I played indoor and outdoor travel soccer for 12 years and have learned lots of techniques related to each player's positions on the field, skills, and health maintenance.
Whenever I see that someone is struggling or isn't enjoying learning I always think it's best to sit down with someone so that the student can ask the questions that they need to. I do the same when I need to really understand a concept in my college classes. I believe that one on one interaction with learning can greatly benefit your education because you have the chance to be heard and have your perspective understood. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
