Hi, my name is Tammy and I have years of experience tutoring many students in math, science and English. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees from Chaminade University and I am currently working on my doctorate in criminal justice. I have a strong work ethic and a commitment to student scholarship and excellence. You'll find me enthusiastic, professional and dedicated. I have been helping students since 2005 and have recently joined the WyzAnt community to assist students pursuing academic excellence. My objectives are to help students reach their full potential, engaging students through fun and rewarding sessions, and helping them understand that obstacles can be overcome with patience and commitment. As a life-long learner, I can attest that there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student smile and succeed. My credentials include many years of experience working with a variety of students and my education which entailed extensive study and application in academic writing, mathematics (including statistics and calculus), physics, biology, and chemistry. As a tutor, I understand that students learn in different ways and at different speeds. For students to achieve their highest potential, it is necessary to foster a student-led environment and to tailor to their specific needs. Feel free to contact me and ask me how I can make a difference in your child's life!

Elementary (K-6th)

I believe that I am qualified to tutor Elementary K-6th subjects because of the nature of my experience in working with children in math and English at this grade level with another tutoring agency in the past. I am able to help students: write professionally and effectively, conduct research proficiently, help them to understand vocabulary by breaking down shell words and foster excellent study skills. Students will also benefit from learning how to break down sentence structure to understand nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs and other functions of their relevance to paragraph formation.

SAT Reading,

SAT Reading

SAT reading comprehension requires active reading, analyzing questions, keeping track of contrasting points of view, and utilizing strategies to eliminate wrong answer choices through process of elimination, relevancy, and extreme language. These skills can be easily taught through practice and support. The goal of a tutor in addition to providing support is to help students see "the big picture" which can sometimes be challenging with long and dense passages. As a tutor, I can help clients develop these skills and make them more confident on test day.

Tessie, 32 lessons with Tammy

Great tutor

I haven't sat in any of the sessions, but based on my child's feedback I am very pleased. The post-session reviews that I receive from Tammy are very thorough and specific to the areas my child displays the most trouble. She also highlights the areas in which he shows strength. His confidence is starting to grow in algebra and I believe it will translate into the classroom. Tammy is prompt and very professional. I would recommend her services to all.
