I have loved to read and write for as long as I can remember, and I have loved helping others for just as long! I started tutoring in high school as a volunteer after school, but became a professional (paid!) tutor once I got to college. I majored in English at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, or, as we like to call it, "UNC by the Sea".
I started teaching soon after graduating. My first teaching job was at a local community college teaching ESL, but I also taught GED prep, Freshman Seminar, Anger Management, and several levels of freshman English while I was an instructor there.
Coinciding with my work at the community college, I became a high school English teacher, teaching grades 9-12. I really enjoyed the energy and curiosity of my high school students.
No matter what I am teaching, or what subject I tutor a student in, I am always overjoyed to see my student make real progress and truly grasp concepts that seemed beyond their reach.
