I have both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in English. With over nineteen years of teaching experience in a variety of educational settings ranging from elementary through college levels, I am qualified to teach all English-related subjects. As part of my job as an adjunct instructor at the community college, I worked as a tutor for remedial writing students. I also taught basic composition and English classes. I loved teaching students how to be confident in their writing abilities by using a variety of teaching methods.

My favorite teaching experience was homeschooling my two children from kindergarten through high school. I had the opportunity to tutor them individually, and they both were extremely successful on their standardized testing, both scoring above the 98th percentile on the English section of the ACT. I also worked as an Associate Editor at a major business magazine, so I love to help with proofreading papers or editing essays.

I have experience teaching writing, English grammar, English composition, ELA, literature, ACT English, and ACT Reading. I am a former copy editor and proofreader.

My goal is to help my students excel. I am quick to respond to tutoring inquiries, so please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule a lesson.

Excellent tutor

We’ve tried a few tutors here and they all had their pros but after finding Jill I’m thrilled. She is very patient and extremely knowledgeable. My teacher mother in law was also impressed with her, lol. She goes above and beyond what I thought an online tutor would be. I highly recommend Jill.

Her diction and language are very clear. Clearly , she knows her subject. I really enjoy her class. She has a lot of patience and is good about quizzing you after the class

Great tutor

Jill is working with my daughter and thus fur, Jill has been awesome. No complaints at all. Jill has a wonderful personality and great patience. I am personally happy that she is a mother and therefore understands the difficulties of getting a middle schooler through
