My passion for teaching - and learning, has developed from a general belief of leaving the planet better for my existence than I found it. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of dyslexia remediation/tutoring and have taught in a private school for nine years. I also enjoy working with children of all ages. I earned an Associates Degree majoring in English, and am presently 18 credits shy of my BA.
My specialties are tutoring English comprehension and basic Math. I also teach guitar and piano and tie musical properties with mathematical forms while I instruct. I do have comfortable space in Sanford, NC, within which to tutor or will travel up to 30 +/- miles depending on the circumstances.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been involved with commercial and residential construction for around 30 years. I taught wood working, English, and silk screening at a private school for nine years. I have drawn plans for many projects and customers throughout the course of my life and enjoy the process immensely.
I have been trained by Diana Hanbury King as a tutor, and taught at Kildonan School (for dyslexic children). I was employed by the school for nine years and earned respect for those who tried to fit in, yet could not understand why they had trouble doing so. My time there left me far more sympathetic towards those affected in a world which, seemingly, refuses to publicly address the situation.
