Hi, I'm John! I studied biochemistry and math during college but discovered a passion for programming R through my undergraduate research. During my PhD in biomedical engineering, I became an expert in R programming as I used R constantly to organize, analyze, and visualize data. I also have experience helping others learn. I tutored other college students for my college's tutoring center during multiple semesters of college, was a graduate teaching assistant for two classes, and taught R and...

John is fantastic tutor!
John is a really wonderful tutor. We have had a few sessions now working on a project. I feel confident in my project being correct, but I’m also learning a great deal. John is always helpful and willing to explain concepts. He’s also very patient, no matter how many times I’m stumped, stuck, or asking a ton of questions!

First session
John gave me an overview of R basics including types of vectors, how to access values in a vector, how to create objects, how to check documentation for functions, and several other topics. He also he also explained some statistics including the normal distribution, testing for difference in means, Z scores, and the central limit theorem. He’s very knowledgeable and a great teacher.

Great Tutor
He’s thorough and tries to prepare before the session. Even within he’s the same and helps to explain things to those who aren’t as well versed in the programming language.

John is a knowledgable and professional tutor
John taught me how to run regressions for large databases on R. He helped me to understand the code by breaking it down into manageable chunks of information. You can tell he is very knowledgable and experienced with R. I appreciated his ability to teach in an understandable way and his patience.
