Livingstone College (Mathematics)
I am recent graduate from Livingstone College earning a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics. I have taken many education courses; Intro to Educational Psychology, Education and Classroom Management and Educational Technology just to name a few. Education is my passion and mathematics is a subject I enjoy greatly. While in high school I assisted college students with entry level math classes and took Calculus my senior year of High School. Through my matriculation as a student I have learned that education is my field of interest. Knowing that I am able to make mathematics easier for a student to understand brings me joy. STEM is a rapidly growing industry, and the more children of today that understand mathematics, the more secure our future will be. Not only have I tutored college students, but I have over 100 hours of student-teacher observation hours within the Rowan County School system. I have observed regular classrooms, and classrooms that were partially integrated with students with developmental issues. I have created lesson plans for middle school math classes that integrated technology, reading, and currently do the same for my high school math classes. Tutoring is refreshing, and reassuring that a child is being educated.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken lower and upper levels of Algebra, Calculus I, II, III, Elementary Education, Education and Technology and a host of other detailed math and education courses.
Algebra 2 covers rational and irrational numbers, pi, rationalizing denominators and introduces imaginary numbers. All in which I have very thorough knowledge of and continue to practice daily. Algebra 2 also requires knowledge of exponents and knowing how to solve them in various equations. I have tutored Algebra 2 previously.
