In all of my tutoring I seek to spark a passion for learning so that my students not only know a topic, but love the topic. My 7 years of teaching experience span a wide array of subjects I love, such as debate, art, piano, and general homeschooling.

Currently I am a government major participating in moot court and debate at the top moot court college in the nation, where I am the recipient of 9 major merit scholarships, 3 of them specifically for public speaking/debate. I hold 8 national-level awards in speech and debate and am the coauthor of a 400-page debate book published by Lasting Impact Speech and Debate.

As a teacher, my experience includes 2 years helping homeschool 4 children ages 2 to 10 (one of them special-needs); 6 years managing my own piano studio, teaching 16 students ages 4 to 16; one year co-leading a weekly online high school debate club; and 9 months teaching a weekly in-person art class to 12 adults and homeschooled teens, covering drawing, color theory, and acrylics. In addition, for 5 years I’ve enjoyed serving our church as a teacher and childcare volunteer.

A huge source of my passion for learning comes from being homeschooled myself K-12 with the flexibility to study under a wide variety of teachers, online and in person, teachers whose enthusiasm made reading, history, communication, and science come alive. I strive to share that same excitement with all of my students! It’s important to me to foster a warm, welcoming environment where students feel valued. I love working with kids of all ages and finding the best way to help them learn according to each one’s unique needs. By making each lesson fun and exciting with beneficial games and activities, they can grow in a way that will not only produce expertise, but also an exuberance for learning.

Bible Studies

Bible Studies

One of my favorite activities each summer is teaching Vacation Bible School. I started out as a teen helping in the nursery and eventually started co-teaching elementary school students. I love to see the excitement a student feels when they "get" what the Bible says! I've been involved in church and various weekly Bible studies since I was a child. Through NCFCA, a Christian speech and debate league, I placed 28th nationwide in apologetics (communicating answers to theological questions in a clear and engaging way). Currently I'm a government major at a Christian liberal arts college, where I'm privileged to see God's truth integrated in every aspect of learning. I love studying God's Word and seeing how it applies to my own daily life. I would love to share that enthusiasm with your child and help them see how amazing the Bible is!
Homeschool

Homeschool

I was homeschooled K-12th and loved it! My experience with homeschooling gave me a passion for learning that eventually led to full tuition and full ride merit scholarship offers at excellent colleges. I would love to share that same enthusiasm for learning with your child! My homeschool teaching experience includes 2 years working with 4 children once a week, ages 2-10, while their mom took a much-needed break. I also have worked 6 years experience as a piano teacher for 16 students ages 4-16, a year as a high school debate club co-leader, 9 months leading an art class for 12 adults and kids, and 5 years helping with teaching and childcare at my church. I was homeschooled with classical and Charlotte Mason styles - Singapore Math, IEW, Apologia, Gileskirk/Kings Meadow, TruthQuest, and lots of great literature, biographies, classics, primary sources, and read-alouds. I'm happy to teach with these or other curricula and styles, too. Just let me know how I can help!
Piano

Piano

Over the past 6 years I have taught a total of 16 students ranging in age from 4 through 16. Teaching piano has grown my love for the art of piano playing itself, but also my love for teaching children and cultivating their own love for learning. I strive to make each lesson fun and exciting with beneficial games and worksheets to learn new concepts, try fun songs, and review old material. It is my goal to help students learn piano in a way that will not only produce piano expertise, but also an exuberance for learning and a joy for playing. My additional experience working with students includes leading a weekly art class for adults and children, co-leading a high school debate club, co-teaching at church summer camps, and 2 years helping homeschool children in a special-needs family.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Public Speaking is one of my top passions – I love to help others become more skilled and confident in this arena! I am currently a government student at the top Moot Court college in the country, attending on a college debate scholarship, an Optimist International Oratory Scholarship, and a Sons of the American Revolution Oratory Award (for which I was ranked in the top 6 nationwide). In NCFCA Team Policy Debate my partner and I were 13th team nationwide (measured by at-large points earned), winning the 5-state Regional Championship and eight other 5-state tournaments. I was awarded the Best Policy Debate Speaker award at the Regional Championship and six other tournaments, and I also earned an Iron Man Award for qualifying to the NCFCA National Championship in debate and 5 separate speech categories. In speech, I have placed first 8 times at NCFCA 5-state tournaments - in impromptu, extemporaneous, persuasive, and apologetics categories. I also won second place at an NCFCA national open and 4th overall best speaker at an NCFCA national mixer. My coaching experience includes co-leading a high school team debate club, planning meetings, giving feedback on assignments, and coaching students in debate skills, cases, and briefs. As a speech club core group leader, I mentored 8 students in public speaking. I love to help students build confidence and skill in public speaking and debate! In 2020 I had the privilege of coauthoring a Team Policy Debate Sourcebook, a 400-pg resource for debaters covering the topic of European Immigration Policy, published by Lasting Impact Speech and Debate. After publication, Lasting Impact made me their Director of Publications and Marketing.
