I am an educator and lifelong learner who believes that reading is the key that opens the door to every possibility the world has to offer, for each and every one of us. I am licensed in the following areas: Reading K-12, English 9-12, Elementary Ed. K-6, and ESL K-12. I have worked in a variety of areas in my field, which has provided me a diverse set of experiences and the opportunity to work with people of all ages to build their literacy skills. I've taught elementary students, high school students, career-age people, as well as our precious elder generation. I have most recently been working with educators helping them hone and sharpen their instructional strategies in literacy skills specific to their content areas. Through all of those experiences, it has become clear to me that the thing I always find the most rewarding and enjoyable is having the opportunity to work closely with one learner. The delight and relief I see them experience, as we remove the barriers and they realize reading is not the challenge it once was, is a most fulfilling reward.

I have been fortunate to work most recently at high school with a strong focus on innovative teaching practices, which are geared toward preparing our students for the world of our future. This has afforded me opportunities for professional development in the areas of collaboration, communication, project based learning, as well as many other key areas our students will need in this ever-changing world. I have found that the strategies aligned with this type of facilitation of learning is not only more engaging for youth today, but also helps them develop critical thinking skills they will use in every aspect of their lives. Having fun while you learn is the best way!

Reading, Writing (grammar, conventions, mechanics), ESL, ACT English, ACT Reading, SAT Prep, Digital Literacy, Content Area Literacy (helping you read better and faster in Science, Soc. Studies, and even Math!).

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I am happy to have the opportunity to use what I've learned to help students enjoy the benefits strong literacy skills provide!
