I completed my Bachelor of Science with Highest Honors in Psychology degree at the University of North Carolina, where I graduated with distinction and with minors in Computer Science and Neuroscience, and then went to the University of Miami to complete a post-bacc internship in neuroscience (with an emphasis on experimental work and research programming). I tutored as a part-time job all through college, working with children age 12+ and adult learners, in both online and virtual classroom settings. My standardized test scores on AP tests, the SAT, and the GRE have consistently been excellent (generally 95th+ percentile).

When working with a student, I try to create a casual, fun atmosphere where the student feels comfortable asking questions. I believe firmly that the student is often the best judge of his or her own weak points, and so I encourage students (and parents) to play an active role in determining the course of their tutoring sessions, helping identify focal points, etc. I only teach subjects I am enthusiastic and knowledgeable about, so you and your student can be sure I will remain engaged through the entire session.

I look forward to working with you and your student. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, scheduling inquiries, or requests for more information.

R,

R

As a scientist, I have worked extensively with programming in the research setting -- particularly with the programming language R, primarily written in R Studio. I have expertise in troubleshooting R code, writing statistical analysis scripts, and interpreting output.
SPSS

SPSS

During my undergraduate training, I took multiple upper level classes on statistical analysis using SPSS, and I also have used SPSS extensively in my own research. As a result, I am skilled in the various aspects of the program, from menu-based analyses to graphing to console programming. I'm happy to help you learn how to use SPSS for any of your statistics needs.

Grammar,

Grammar

I have writing experience across several domains: fiction, literary essays, and scientific reports. I've always had an affinity for grammar--I even read Strunk and White's "The Elements of Style" for fun as a child. Now as a scientist, I frequently must write lengthy reports of my work; in 2017, I received a degree with Highest Honors due to my thesis work, which produced a 40-page manuscript. My test scores also reflect my ability to write well: I obtained perfect scores on SAT Writing, GRE Verbal Reasoning, and GRE Analytical Writing.

Statistics

Statistics

As a scientist who works in a laboratory setting, I am regularly required to run complex statistics on the data I collect. This provides me with unique insight into the "what"s and "how"s of statistics. Combined with my three years' teaching experience in statistics and my own proven track record (e.g., perfect score on the AP Statistics exam), I'm excellent choice as a statistics tutor for your student.
