UNC Wilmington (Spanish and Psych)
UNC Wilmington (Master's)
I am a former Spanish teacher who has experience living abroad in Chile, the Dominican Republic, Spain, and Peru, among other countries. I have a Master's degree in Spanish from UNCW and have taught Spanish at the graduate level as well as to middle schoolers in WCPSS. I am currently offering tutoring services to individual students and small groups. I can follow a book's curriculum if your child simply needs extra help with their school curriculum. I am also willing to create individualized lessons for students of any level to teach Spanish or help students improve and practice.
I love working with students of all ages and levels. My previous work experience includes working at a preschool, teaching Spanish to undergraduates when I was in grad school, teaching English to middle schoolers in the Dominican Republic, teaching English to students of all ages in Japan, teaching Spanish to high school students in Peru, and teaching middle school Spanish in Raleigh. In addition to tutoring, I also currently work as an ESL teacher online. I have experience with curriculum development as well as following written curriculums and lesson plans.
I love Spanish grammar! I specialized in grammar and linguistics when I was in graduate school and will provide lessons that focus on grammar while keeping things fun. I like to have grammar and vocabulary focuses to my lessons but also add games and activities to keep things interesting for my students. I have been working as a private tutor for a year and have experience with all ages and levels from kindergarten to adults. Every student is different, so my teaching approach varies with each student that I teach. I am happy to create customized lessons that focus on your goals and make sure you get the most out of each of our sessions!
I am available in the afternoon and evenings and would love to tutor you or your child! Feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like to schedule lessons! Rosie was awesome for our first lesson! She kept my boys engaged for the entire lesson by making it interactive and fun!
Rosie is very knowledgeable and always finds the best material to fit my daughter perfectly. She knows what works for her and builds her lessons around that. I doubt you would find a better tutor. Plus, my daughter really loves her
This was our first Spanish tutoring session with Rosie S. I feel she did an accurate assessment of my daughter's needs and tailored her lesson accordingly. We look foorward to future sessions.
2nd lesson- Helped my daughter with exactly what she need to prepare for tomorrow's test.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In addition to a year of private tutoring experience, I have taught Spanish to university students, middle school students, and taught a college-accredited Spanish course while leading study abroad trips for high schoolers. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is my ability to explain concepts in various ways depending on your unique learning style and I excel in creating personalized lessons designed to help reach your goals.
