About Chris

Potential Students,

Thank you for your interest in pursuing tutoring from me. I am a college student at NCSU who is relatively new to tutoring, but I have been helping my friends with math for years and participated in National Honor Society tutoring as a Junior and Senior my high school year. I have experience tutoring high school and college students, 14-19. I find helping others to understand math very rewarding, so I really value the opportunity to teach you.

I have taken up to Calculus III in college and scored a 5 on my AP BC Calculus exam in high school. I am very derivation driven when it comes to understanding why math works the way it does, and most people ignore that aspect. I believe that understanding the material comes from asking why and pursuing that answer in depth. As a result, my tutoring will also include helping you understand why and not only how.

I have a very flexible schedule and am willing to make time if you need it. Come with a readiness to learn and you'll feel better about the subject in no time. Contact me if you want to know more, sign up for tutoring, or have any special requests.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Java

Java was one of the first programming languages I learned about. On top of prior personal experiences from a young age, I also passed my CSC116 - Intro to Java class with an A+ this past semester. This summer, I am taking CSC216, which is a more advanced course that focuses on programming concepts and improving understanding of OOP languages.
