University of Mount Olive (Business Admins)
My name is Wayne. I am a graduate of Carteret Community College and a graduate candidate at the University of Mount Olive in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. In addition to tutoring students for almost ten years, I have served on many committees geared towards providing students with quality instruction and measurable improvement in their academic endeavors. I work with students of all ages. This includes elementary, middle, and high school levels. I also work with students at the collegiate level. My goals are very simple: to assist students in achieving their very best.
I have taught students in various settings as well. I served as a Theatre Arts Teacher for a charter school in North Raleigh last year, and I also teach workshops for small groups in the community. I am a summer camp instructor; providing the continuation of learning for student's so that they can return to school prepared and eager to learn. I spend most of my "tutoring time" abetting students to succeed on placement tests, and entrance exams. Many students have test anxiety. I feel it is my job to put the stress to rest.
Being that I am a Business Major, I enjoy measurable standards. I understand that success is a measurable attribute and any student can learn with the right mindset. I enjoy learning about students and finding the best way to help them learn. I am a very intuitive person as well, thus honing in on those finite details for learning is something I can do with ease. My approach to tutoring is tapping into each individuals learning style, and through application, assisting the student to gain the knowledge that they need on standardized testing, homework, and in the classroom.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored students seeking to complete the TEAS exam for Nursing School Placement. I am a certified phlebotomist and CNA. I teach and tutor students in the fundamentals of writing, reading, critical thinking, dosage calculations, and the scientific math skills needed to succeed on this exam.
