About Terrence

Bio

I started teaching because I wanted to exemplify the ideals that my high school English teachers applied with me: support, encouragement, genuine investment and sincere concern for my education. I can honestly say that, after receiving various accolades from parents and students alike, I achieved that in the lives of so many amazing young adults. I'd like to do the same with you.

I specialize in helping students sharpen their skills in literature analysis and comprehension, research/writing and vocabulary usage. My goal in working with students is to help them better synthesize class assignments and introduce better ways of approaching and understanding the context of what is being presented in various lessons.

I taught English literature and composition for 10 years. During my tenure, I focused on helping students perfect research skills and writing, grammar applications, reading comprehension. I also worked as a journalism adviser for student editors and reporters at a local university. As an adviser, I trained students to utilize proper writing and editing skills as they created and published multicultural and general interest magazines, art journals and yearbooks.

I believe in superb student performance, but I also believe in meeting student where they are academically. I have a great deal of knowledge and strategic shortcuts to offer students who apply themselves. If you are looking for an education advocate – one that is genuinely concerned about LEARNING, not just grades – consider working with me. I promise if you make five steps toward your academic goals, I will make 10.
