UNC-CH (English, Psychology)
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master's)
Hi there! I have a BA in English and Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing from UNC Chapel Hill, and I'm currently working on an MA in Biblical Counseling at SEBTS. I LOVE books, and I love spreading that love. I have an 11-year-old stepson in sixth grade, and I've been tutoring him for the last several years. I've also tutored in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
My focus is English, but I can handle math up to the middle school range with ease. I scored very highly in the Reading and Writing sections of the SAT and can teach general test-taking skills. My stepson has ADHD, so I have experience there as well. I really love seeing that light bulb go off in a kid's head when he or she really understands a concept for the first time, and I believe it's important to encourage kids even (or perhaps especially) when their final grades don't necessarily reflect their abilities.
I've tutored my stepson through the latter elementary years with relative ease.
My degree is in English, and I have an odd passion for correct grammar and punctuation.
I'd love the opportunity to encourage you (or your child) and share a love of learning! Contact me anytime! Hi there! I have a BA in English and Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing from UNC Chapel Hill, and I'm currently working on an MA in Biblical Counseling at
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I went to a Christian school from K-12. I'm also currently in seminary. I'll never know every answer a person can have about the Bible, but I should be able to answer quite a few questions at this point.
