I have been an elementary school teacher for 20 years. I have been tutoring students in reading, writing and math for 15 years. One of my strengths is connecting with my students, finding out what kind of learner they are and to teach strategies that will compliment their learning style. I am happy to work directly with your child's classroom teacher to ensure that the tutoring sessions are meeting your child's classroom needs.
I am presently working on a certificate to teach ESL in addition to elementary school subjects. My teaching experience and love for cultures compliments my desire to help students with ESL (English as a Second Language). I am also available to teach ESL to adults. My focus would include doing a needs assessment and to coordinate my lessons according to what a child or adult's needs are. I hope that I have an opportunity to work with you to improve your skills and understanding in whatever area you need tutoring in. I look forward to meeting you soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
