About Rachel

It is my joy and passion to help every student I encounter achieve their personal academic goals and aspirations. As a professional educator and life long learner, I am willing to go the extra mile to help your child succeed. I have the ability and experience to tailor each tutoring session according to the specific needs of the student. My enthusiasm and love for helping others succeed has made a difference in each child I have tutored thus far.

I am a former graduate of Queens University of Charlotte, where I studied and earned my degree in Elementary Education. For the past five years, I have experience teaching both kindergarten and first grade, while providing tutoring services for reading and writing. I also have a passion for working with ADHD and Autistic children, which has currently led me to pursue a degree in Speech Language and Pathology. As a student myself, I know that hard work and dedication pays off, and it is my ultimate desire to provide the best services to each student. I am confident that I can help your child succeed in an engaging, comfortable learning environment.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have over six years experience teaching both kindergarten and first grade. I also have experience teaching K- 6 grade students who are considered academically at risk in the area of reading. I have experience teaching in both the public and private school systems.

Phonics

I love teaching phonics as this is critical for students in Kindergarten and First Grade. I have experience implementing Dibels and appropriate grade level materials to help master basic phonetic concepts.
