“**Quick assessment of existing skillset and patient tutoring**”

I have been tutoring and teaching remedial through advanced math for over 8 years. My students and clients have consistently praised my patience and clarity. During my time as a mathematics lecturer and TA at the University of Maryland, I received a Gold Medal in Teaching Excellence and a plethora of glowing student evaluations. These past two

Christian quickly assessed gaps in current knowledge and patiently provides instruction. He covered several topics for my business calculus class. Specifically, a thorough review of exponents and related topics from precalculus; translation of applications into mathematical equations; and proper evaluation of expressions involving functions. The session was very helpful to ensure I don't get behind in my class.

First session went great. My daughter is actually looking forward to the next lesson in precalculus.

Christian is what you would expect a great tutor to be. Patient, knowledgeable, and skillful at explaining the "how" and "why" behind math concepts/skills. He excels at explaining everything in terms of what every level you are currently at and he makes sure you understand each step before jumping into the next.

Christian worked with my son for the first time this week. I was so pleased to hear him teaching rather than just showing how to do a particular problem, He helped him look at problems differently and use his graphing calculator much more efficiently. Evan zipped through the next nights homework on his own with no problems. I liked his philosophy of you can be really good at math if you put in the time and effort-not just struggle through calculus like I did.

Christian helped me study for my Actuary FM exam. He was very knowledgeable and helped me talk through several of the concepts that I was struggling with. I would highly recommend Christian.

We worked on Algebra problems and he wa able to break it down to be in a way I could understand.

My son has really enjoyed being tutored by Christian. He has the ability to explain difficult concepts in a way that is understandable!

Christian was extremely patient and knowledgeable and said just the "right" things to help my son move along with his java project. A very mentoring/coaching persona using just the right approach for the situation. Completely recommend!

Christian is both very knowledgeable and patient. My son feels very comfortable asking questions and is already more confident about his abilities in precalc. We hit a home-run in finding Christian!

My 14 year old is getting better problem solving skills with Christian's help. Christian doesn't try to just teach at...but rather...helps our teenager learn for himself why one strategy works better than another.

Actuarial Science,
Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I successfully studied for and passed Exam P and Exam FM given by the Society of Actuaries.

I taught all levels of Calculus as a lecturer and TA at the University of Maryland on multiple occasions and was awarded a departmental Gold Medal in Teaching Excellence for my calculus instruction. I have had numerous courses in the theoretical underpinnings of the subject at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have tutored calculus more than any other subject.

I taught Ordinary Differential Equations as a lecturer at the University of Maryland and took courses in the subject at both undergraduate and graduate levels. I have tutored this course many times.

I have taken multiple college level courses on discrete mathematics and have tutored the subject on many occasions. Additionally, I have substantial background in computer programming, for which discrete mathematics is the theoretical underpinning.

This is one of my favorite subjects. I was a TA for linear algebra at University of Maryland while a graduate student and I had two courses in linear algebra while an undergraduate at UNCG. Additionally, I was involved in original research on the subject at a Research Experience for Undergraduates program at the College of William & Mary; I received the "Best Student Paper Award" for the resulting research report at the SCRA 2006/FIM XIII Conference on Interdisciplinary Mathematics at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, Portugal.

I took courses in mathematical logic as an undergraduate at UNCG and as a graduate student at the University of Maryland. Additionally, I passed a PhD qualifying exam in the subject.
