I've been a tutor on Wyzant's platform since 2014 and I love it! My primary area of expertise is multimedia art and design, with a focus in Adobe's Creative Cloud programs for digital illustration and graphic design.

Located in North Carolina, I graduated high school in 2004 with honors (Summa Cum Laude) and immediately went to college at Appalachian State University to major in Music Industry Studies. After two years at ASU, I realized music industry wasn't the path I wanted to travel down, so I took a break from school until 2008, when I transferred to East Carolina University's School of Art and Design. I graduated in December of 2014 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Animation and Interactive Design.

I have been working as an art and design freelance professional since 2010, specializing in graphic design and illustration. I also work with photo editing, video editing and production, animation, and occasionally 3D modeling.

SUBJECTS & PROGRAMS:

My specialty subjects include:
• Painting and Drawing (particularly figure drawing)
• Graphic Design (including logo design and layouts for print media)
• Illustration and Concept Art (digital painting)
• Photo Editing
• Vector art and design
• Intro-level video editing and animation (when available)

Art and design-specific programs I tutor in include:
• Adobe Creative Cloud (general help)
• Photoshop
• Illustrator
• InDesign
• After Effects
• Bridge

General computer knowledge:
I'm used to using both Mac and PC computers for basic, every day work as well as art and graphics, music composition, audio editing, video editing, and more. I can also tutor basics like how to set up email, web browsers, and organize files. I have a basic to intermediate understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as their Google counterparts (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, etc.). I know basic HTML and CSS, but any other coding is outside of my area of expertise.

I learned to use Illustrator by attending an Essential training course on Lynda.com as part of my college degree. I have used Adobe Illustrator for both school projects and work assignments for over 5 years. I use it primarily for designing logos, flyers, posters, and advertisements, but it has also come in handy for creating assets for animation projects in Flash and After Effects.

Adobe InDesign

I completed a week-long Essential Training Course for Adobe InDesign CC and I have been successfully tutoring in this subject since May 2016. I use this program on a regular basis for my freelance graphic design work.

I have been using Photoshop on a daily basis since 2006 for a wide variety of projects, including photo editing, short animations, drawing and digital painting, graphic novels, and laying out mockups for web design. I took two full courses on Lynda.com to further flesh out my understanding of the program, and several of my college courses utilized Photoshop for projects and assignments. I am extremely comfortable with this program.

Graphic Design

Since 2010, I have worked as a multimedia artist and designer for clients in small businesses and growing companies to create high-quality, eye-catching designs that speak for themselves. I earned a BFA in Animation and Interactive Design in 2014, and my professional expertise includes 2D and 3D concept art, graphic design for print and digital media, motion graphics for film and marketing, and interactive design such as web sites and educational presentations. I utilize industry-standard programs for all of my work, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign to deliver a clean, professional product - on time, and on budget. For over 5 years, I worked as Creative Director for a local business to create and maintain all of their client-facing branding and marketing media, including logos, business cards, brochures, websites, and social media. I was also in charge of SEO for two desktop sites and two mobile sites, and I brought their search engine rankings from zero to the front page within the first month. I keep a project calendar on hand at all times, including when I last spoke with my clients, because I believe that prompt and clear communication is conducive to a successful project.

Obviously well-versed in InDesign!

We had to work around fire-wall issues my organization has and ended up talking on the phone and e-mailing through the training session. I was impressed with Adrian's ability to educate me without being able to see in real-time what I was seeing. I learned a lot in my first lesson and look forward to my next!

Adrian is one of the best!!

Adrian guided me through a complex Photoshop CC issue I got stuck on. I'm really glad that Adrian listened to my needs and showed how to apply the steps myself. Adrian was extremely professional, helpful, knowledgable and I was delighted to receive follow-up videos and notes that were carefully organized and outlined step- by-step. I plan on booking with Adrian again in the future for my Photoshop needs and recommend anybody do so without hesitating. The best thing is that Adrian is actually talented and skilled with an outstanding portfolio as proof.
