About Rechel

I am a Licensed Special Education Teacher. I mainly teach K-4 students in a resource classroom setting. I am in my second year of teaching. In my classroom, I teach students with a variety of disabilities. I am qualified to teach regular education students as well. I prefer to tutor students in reading, writing, and comprehension.

Master's of Education in Special Education. And I currently teach Special Education students in a resource classroom setting. Students have diagnosis of ADD/ADHD, Learning Disabled, and Intellectually Disabled.

Prior to becoming a teacher I was a Creative Arts Therapist at a group home for mentally ill adults. I also was a Psychiatric Social Worker for ten years.

I enjoy arts/crafts, reading, cooking, hiking and nature. Please contact me to arrange a meeting to see if we are a fit.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have a Masters of Education in Special Education. While obtaining my degree we learned about all of the various disabilities one of which is ADD/ADHD. I currently teach Special Education students in a resource classroom setting. I have several students who are diagnosed with ADHD who are on my caseload. Students with ADHD typically require more hands on activities to keep them engaged.

Aspergers

I have a Masters of Education in Special Education. In completing my degree I learned about all of the various diagnosis with children and disabilities. I teach special education students in a resource classroom setting. I currently have two students with Autism on my caseload which is closely related to Aspergers.

Autism

Prior to obtaining my teaching license I worked as a Teacher Assistant in a Pre K class for children with Autism. I currently have two students on my caseload with Autism.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Masters of Education in Special Education. I currently teach K-4 students who have special needs at a public elementary school.

Phonics

I currently use phonic programs approved by the county I work in to help students read and decode.

Reading

I have a Masters of Education in Special Education. I use research based interventions to help students with their reading skills. I also like to use a multi-sensory approach to learning.

Special Needs

I have a Masters of Education in Special Education. I am a Resource Classroom Special Education Teacher.
