About Robert

I am currently working toward a dual degree in Physics and Math at NC State University with the ambition to get a PhD and teach math and physics. I am willing to help tutor anyone who needs help with Algebra through Calculus III and differential equations as well as physics at the college level. I have taken and passed calculus I through calculus III, differential equations, an introductory mathematical proofing class, partial differential equations and proof-based linear algebra. In physics I have taken classes on Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism and Quantum Mechanics. I am currently in my final year of my degree at NC State.

I have been tutoring for over three years now and have helped students with Calculus I, II, and III, Precalculus, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Classical Mechanics, and Electromagnetism. I also regularly help my classmates with the materials in a one-on-one setting.

Two years ago I was hired by the Undergraduate Tutorial Center at NC State as an on campus tutor for NC State Students. I have tutored Precalculus, Calculus, and Physics. I have also lead a supplemental instruction (SI) session for Physics 211 and 212 (algebra-based mechanics and electromagnestism) where students can come an reinforce what they have learned in class in a group setting. I make lesson plans for my sessions and hold three 50-minute sessions per week.

I prefer to meet at one of NC State's libraries as I am on campus during most of my free time. It might be possible to meet at your house or another location you feel comfortable with if we both agree to the meeting place beforehand and it is not too far away from NC State's campus. I am excited to help others with math and physics and I look forward to helping you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have taken, completed, and received an A in both a college algebra and precalculus algebra course in college. Algebra is used throughout math at all levels and I am still using it in the third semester of calculus.

Algebra 2

I have taken, completed, and received an A in both a college algebra and precalculus algebra course in college. Algebra is used throughout math at all levels and I am still using it in the third semester of calculus.

Calculus

I have taken and passed with A's three college level calculus classes. The three course treatment of calculus is for the sciences and engineering. They covered limits, derivatives, and integrals in depth with applications to the sciences.

Physics

I have taken and passed with A's two college level physics classes for physics major. The first covered classical Newtonian mechanics and used calculus throughout the course. The second covered electricity and magnetism and also used calculus throughout.

Precalculus

I have taken, completed and received an A in both a precalculus algebra and a precalculus trigonometry course at the college level. Both algebra and trigonometry are used throughout calculus. I still use them extensively in the third semester of calculus.

Trigonometry

I have taken, completed, and received a A in a trigonometry course at the college level. Trigonometry is used throughout calculus. I still use it in the third semester of calculus.

Very Patient and Knowledgeable — I really enjoyed working with Robert. I got my money's worth in pre-calc help. He is very good at helping me to see things graphically and to see the big picture. Sometimes among all the rules, I get lost in the details and forget what I am trying to do. Robert helps me to see math another way. ...
