Hi! I’m Abby. I graduated with honors from Chapman University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry, and I’m now beginning my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at NC State/UNC Chapel Hill. Throughout my undergraduate years, I earned top grades in rigorous STEM coursework, served as President of the Tri-Beta Biology Honors Society, and published research in tissue engineering and presented it at scientific conferences. These experiences have not only strengthened my mastery of biology, chemistry, and math, but also taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly and confidently to students of all levels.

I have several years of tutoring and mentoring experience, working with students from elementary school through college in subjects such as biology, chemistry, algebra, geometry, reading comprehension, writing, and SAT preparation. I’ve also mentored students in laboratory research, helping them build scientific reasoning, study skills, and confidence in their abilities. My tutoring approach is supportive and personalized: I always begin by learning each student’s goals, challenges, and learning style. Then I introduce topics in a simple, intuitive way, reinforce them through guided practice, and help students build independent problem-solving skills. My aim is to make learning approachable, engaging, and not overwhelming, even for students who normally feel intimidated by STEM as I once did.
I want every student I work with to feel supported, capable, and proud of their progress. I’m always happy to adjust my teaching style, provide extra resources, or collaborate with parents on specific goals. I respond quickly, offer flexible scheduling, and encourage you to reach out with any questions or to set up your first lesson. I look forward to helping you succeed!
