Hello students! Allow me to introduce myself. I have taught High School Math courses, such as Integrated Math I-III, Algebra II (Standard and Honors), Trigonometry, Algebra III, Honors Precalculus, and/or AP Calculus AB for seven years. For three of these years I taught in my home state of Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!). As for the remaining four years, I had the opportunity to teach in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District in Charlotte, North Carolina.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics (minored in Spanish) from Clarion University of Pennsylvania (2004). I went on to earn a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University of Pennsylvania (2007). I earned my AP Calculus AB certification in 2008 (taught AP Calculus AB for school year). I even have training in PEAK teaching strategies. I truly enjoyed working with my students in the classroom as well as outside of classroom in order to encourage them to gain a deeper understanding of the math concepts that they are learning or struggling with.
Currently, I am a stay-at-home, first time mom, but I am eager to do some math tutoring. I enjoy a great math problem! I look forward to working with you in hopes of proving to you just how enjoyable and understandable math can really be! So, the question is: How may I help you? Hello students! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In mathematics, you need to be able to set up an equation as well as solve it! In order to do this, a student needs a strong foundation in Algebra and Prealgebra. I can help with that. I have taught an Algebra course (whether it were Integrated Math I, II, or III, Algebra II, or Honors Algebra II) every year since I began teaching in 2004.
In order to learn the upper level mathematics concepts, you need a strong foundation in Algebra! I can most definitely help with that! I am great at helping students set up and solve equations. After all, a student needs to be able to explain his or her work!
I taught Integrated Math I, II, and/or III, which included many proofs! There are a lot of important terms students must understand to be successful in Geometry, thus successful in Trig, Precalc. and Calc. I can definitely help with this, as I have taught a variety of math classes throughout my seven years experience.
I have taught a variety of math courses throughout my seven years experience in teaching. A majority of these courses were upper level courses, so my prealgebra skills and understanding are exceptional...they have to be!
I taught Honors Precalculus for four years. I have also taught Algebra III/Trig for three years before that in PA (basically Precalculus). This is the course I have the most experience, because I have taught it to some extent ever since I began teaching in 2004.
