My teaching experience includes 5 years teaching freshman chemistry while a graduate student. Additionally, I taught various laboratories while a college senior and graduate student. Included in my education is a second concentration in economics and business. Professionally, my background includes work as a research scientist, product development manager and Registered Paten Agent where I effectively teach the Patent Office about inventors new inventions. My technical expertise is very broad, ranging from basic chemical science to medical devices, computer programs and business methods, consumer products, and technologies. I'm able to relate complex technology to most individuals. Additionally, I focus on helping a student develop personal confidence and overcoming anxiety and fear of learning.

I offer discount for multiple hours of tutoring.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Both my BS in Chemistry and my Ph.D. in Chemistry included extensive formal training and practical, applied organic chemistry experience. In college I took the classical sophomore year organic class and labs; as a senior, additionally, I took organic polymer science and did 2 years of undergraduate research on organ-metallic compounds(winning an ACS award for undergraduate research in NC, Charlotte).
While a graduate student, I took a first year organic chem. review, graduate physical organic chemistry, graduate synthetic organic laboratory, graduate organic chemistry of polymers. Additionally, my Ph.D. research included synthesizing and analyzing numerous organic compounds, monomers, and polymers.
As a professional scientist, I have designed and synthesized numerous organic compounds for a variety of purposes. Three original patents have issued from this work. Finally, as a US Patent Agent and Patent Examiner, I have dealt with many dozens of inventions which are directed to all variety of organic chemistry and science.
I hold BS degrees in Chemistry and Economics/ business; I hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry; I'm a registered US Patent Agent. Each one of these efforts requires successful learning techniques and skills. More over, I have taught numerous patent examiners the inventions contained in patent applications and have won awards for speaking through Toast Masters (demonstrating the ability to clearly communicate)
