My name is Jennifer. I worked with students while working for a non-profit. I tutored young and older students alike when they became involved with this non-profit. I found this work very rewarding. My tutoring helped these students remain in school. I worked as a community educator with this same non-profit. I have worked with students from all backgrounds and at different academic levels. I have also worked with students with special challenges. I gave presentations in our schools and team taught with teachers. The students' sense of humor and eagerness to learn enriched my life in many ways.
I have a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in chemistry and an MPA. I love reading and writing and sharing this love with students. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
