University of North Carolina At Greensboro, NC (Biology and Chem)
East Carolina University (Master's)
Hello, I am a mother of two teenage boys and a wife of a police officer. I am currently teaching for a private school in NC. I have taught General Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science and Anatomy/Physiology in high school and I have taught Principles of Biology I and II (online and face to face) for a major university in NC. It is gratifying to have students understand the material and learn to enjoy a subject that was once difficult for them. I also struggled in school due to learning disabilities, but I have developed methods to help me overcome these obstacles. I would love to share my study methods with you, so you can also be successful in your studies.
Along with my more than 20 years of experience in teaching biology, I have taught study skills and techniques to help students improve their studies. For qualifications, I have a Master’s Degree in Biology, a Bachelor’s in Biology with a Chemistry minor. I really enjoy general biology topics: Cellular Structure, Cellular Respiration, Photosynthesis, Mitosis, Meiosis, Basic Genetics, Molecular Genetics, Classification, and Diversity of Organisms (Zoology). I do have good working knowledge of ecology and anatomy/physiology also.
When I was teaching AP Biology, students that earned an A in the class passed the exam with a 4 or higher. So I can also give advise and review sample essay answers to help students prepare for the AP Biology Exam.

I have taught general biology in public, and private high schools for more than 20 years. I have also taught college level general biology (face to face and online). Both college and high school general biology classes have a genetics units, that goes over basic monohybrid and dihybrid crosses. Basic genetics includes codominant, incomplete dominant, and sex-linked traits. And I have also taught molecular genetics in my general biology classes, which includes DNA structure, transcription, and translation. I have a Master's Degree in Biology from East Carolina University.
I have a Master's Degree in Biology, but more importantly, I have been teaching the classification system and diversity of organisms (including animals) in my Biology II classes in high school and General Biology II in college courses. I have more than 20 years experience teaching. When I teach zoology, I start with simple invertebrates, and more through the evolutionary modification that lead to more complex animals. Students learn to use and create dichotomous keys, as they learn classification or organisms.
