For years, I have dedicated my career to promoting a positive role in empowering students and teachers. I have a plethora of knowledge and understanding of the impact of technology education on community life, civic participation and culture, and worked closely with others to promote equitable access to all in the areas of education and technology. I am a Professional Learning Network administrator, a member of several other online professional communities, as well as my own Twitter and Facebook groups. My experience at a variety of levels—technology facilitator, web manager, teacher assistant, classroom teacher, technology assistant, professional development consultant & coordinator, grant writer, published author, office assistant, and bus driver—have well prepared me for these tasks.
I hold a Master’s of Educational Media / Instructional Technology/Computers from Appalachian, a BA in English/Liberal Arts from Gardner –Webb University, and an AAS in Education from Isothermal Community College. I have a NC Professional Educator license-- Master Level with 077 & 079 endorsements from NCDPI. I have experience with creating Professional and Academic Plans for students k-14, advising and registration; enrollment and other student issues. I have served on numerous committees as an officer and/or member. I have 15+ years experience as a Professional Development Consultant, and 18+ years in various academic and office settings.
I know I have the skills to be a successful Instructional Technology Specialist. I have extensive knowledge of and experience with Web 2.0 collaborative tools, web conferencing software, lecture capture software, interactive whiteboards & SMART Technologies, Moodle, Blackboard and other learning management systems, MS Office 2007, various online/digital editing software/video/web sites such as YouTube, as well as online collaboration tools like Elluminate (new name is Blackboard Collaborate). I understand and am committed to the mission of being a professional educator and have shown that commitment in my experience. I have strong moral and ethics for a position of this magnitude. I am well versed in the legal issues facing all aspects of the student confidentiality and school responsibilities. I understand that this position is responsible for communicating with administrators, staff, and faculty, as well as keeping the required data/paperwork/billing up to date, and creating a culture of collaboration. I can team with school level and district staffs to get the job done.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
