University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (PhD)
I have graduated with PhD in Physics and currently I am a professor at a University. I have teaching experience (mostly at University level ) of more than 20 years. I have taught and tutored undergraduate and graduate students at many universities around the world. For the last 10 years I have been teaching students at such Universities as Duke University and UNC-CH. Due to ethics concerns I will not tutor my current students.
I like to work with students interested in learning. I can teach a motivated student a lot, such that the student will increase knowledge of the subject tremendously. Students have very positive feedback about my teaching. Many of my high school tutees have graduated (or currently enrolled) in Ivy League and other top Universities, such as Harvard, MIT, Princeton, CalTech, Duke, UNC-CH, etc. Especially I am interested in teaching students who are interested in high level Math and Sciences and/or who are eager to participate in various competitions (Math, Physics, etc.). Students who are struggling with Math and Physics are not struggling anymore after taking my classes for a couple of years. Actually, they are ones of the best Math and Science students in their respective classes. You need only motivation and desire to learn. I believe if a motivated student struggles with any subject it is a teacher's fault. Math and Physics are so interesting and easy for understanding areas of knowledge, that if you are interested and motivated you will learn them without a problem.
I prefer to teach Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Probability, Decision Sciences. Occasionally, if I have time and the subject is very interesting, I can teach other sciences/topics. I am not specifically teaching for tests, such as SAT, but after taking Math and Physics with me for some time you will find such tests very easy and not requiring any special preparation.
You can do it! You can do even more than you think! I have graduated with PhD in Physics and currently I am a professor at a University. Multiple discounts: for students who take 4 or more instruction hours per week; for lower level classes (like pre-algebra etc); if you drive to my place, University or library close to me; etc.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a PhD in theoretical Physics and 20+ years of experience in teaching different math and physics classes at university level.
I taught Differential Equations for 5+ years to university students. I tutored DifEqs to high school students for about 3 or 4 years. I am not using a calculator to solve differential equations, however, I will show you how to use different software (computer) to approximate the solutions. We may discuss different algorithms to solve DifEqs numerically.
