I am a certified teacher who loves helping students grow into successful people in society. I graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Elementary Education. I have worked as a teacher for four years in the school setting. I am currently working as a 5th grade teacher in Carteret County.
I believe that helping children learn on their level will ensure their success. Children learn at many different levels and speeds, I strive to understand what they specifically need to help them grow into successful learners. As an educator I make it my mission to help students in areas they may be having trouble with. By using materials and resources that will enrich their learning, I will help them reach their goals.
The reason many children have difficulty with Math is because they did not understand a certain skill somewhere along the way. In order to help them grow in Math, I will specifically figure out the skill the missed and start with that. We can build Math skills from there.
As an extremely organized person, I have broken down each standard in the Common Core standards. By having done this, I am able to see what each standard is asking for.
The foundation for education is set in the elementary setting. By understanding what each student needs, I can help them grow on their skills and master the concepts. I have knowledge in many programs and resources that will help students reach their goals.
I played volleyball throughout middle and high school. I played intramural volleyball in college.
I am hear to help students in any way I can. I will work with students on their level and help them master the concepts they need to be more successful in specific areas. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been trained in Common Core standards and understand these standards as it relates to the skills and concepts that need to be mastered. I have taught in the classroom using Common Core standards for the past 4 years.
