While working on graduate studies in Reading, I found a passion of working with students who struggle in Reading--especially children who are Dyslexic. I continue to keep abreast of all current ways to help children learn and be successful in and out of the classroom.
I am an Orton-Gillingham Multi-Sensory trained teacher. Students with dyslexia learn best through the use of this multi-sensory approach. We engage in many fun and innovative ways of learning.
I assign homework to reinforce the skills we learn at each session. Also, I provide periodic assessments and progress reports for each student. It is important that we see where a child starts and progresses to each level. I will, also, meet with your child's teacher to ensure we are working together to provide success for your child. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
