Hi, my name is Michelle E., CPA. I graduated with a BS in Accounting/Business Administration in 1990 and became a licensed CPA in 1991 which is still active. In my professional career that began in 1990 I worked in various industries with all of the types of accounting and am extremely knowledgeable in many software programs and reports. I have also had the opportunity to teach many of these programs and cost reports to the CFO's, directors and my own staff and co workers and have been told that I am a very good and easy to understand teacher. My favorite math subject in college was statistics, algebra and calculus in addition to all of my accounting and computer classes. I have 4 children, 2 of whom are now in college, one in HS and one in middle school so I continue to keep up with the newest mathematical strategies.
As a tutor I would like to utilize my superb math, accounting and business skills to help those in need and at all levels with their math, accounting and/or software reporting skills. Some of the systems and programs that I have become quite knowledgeable and proficient in are but not limited to: Excel, S.A.P., NextGen, and Quickbooks. I have prepared and audited various financial statements for several profit and non profit companies. I also have experience preparing and overseeing all financial aspects and personnel for start up companies. My professional experience has been in banking, CPA firms, manufacturing, service, law, outpatient healthcare and hospitals. In three of my positions as a manager I was the super user for our costing systems and not only taught them but also taught basic, intermediate and advanced Excel classes. I would love the opportunity to work with individuals or businesses that have a need for improving their own or their staff's reporting efficiencies with these various software programs and reports. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
To obtain my bachelor's degree in Accounting and to pass the CPA exam, there was excessive discrete math that I had to be proficient in.
In addition, I have 4 children (2 in college, 1 in HS and 1 in 7th grade) and have had to personally tutor each of them in math, including discrete math and other advanced maths.
Being a CPA since 1991 and working in the finance/accounting industry for over 23 years, I have used Microsoft Outlook since its inception.
I receive hundreds of emails per day, and therefore Outlook is very crucial in my everyday planning as I use the tasking daily. I also make use of creating various folders for filtering my emails by topic/person/jobs, etc.
As a Certified Public Accountant, I am required to take 40 continuing education credits each year to maintain an active status. I have been continuously active since 2001, and during that time some of that education was in Quick books.
In addition, I set up my spouse's physical therapy practice in 2006 with QB, and it is still the system that we are using to prepare all of our financials, including our payroll and taxes that I personally have maintained.
Being in management for over 10 years, I have trained my own staff and have also trained managers and directors various programs including but not limited to quick books.
