As a Summa Cum Laude Grad School Graduate (Masters of Education in Special Needs) and a graduate of the UNC System (Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Resources and Small Business Management), it is my goal to combine my range of experience and personal education to enrich the lives of others. With my 20 years of combined experience in the private industry training and in the school system, I have had an opportunity to learn effective strategies on how to deal with students (young and old) and advance their educational/ work skills. My current experience working with students with exceptionalities has given me the opportunity to aid children’s adjustments to the learning process and mastering prerequisite skills for high level thinking under the common core standards. In addition I have held leadership positions that has allowed me to mentor youth as a Cheerleading Coach, Girl Scout Leader and Volunteer, and several executive positions with nonprofit organizations.
I have tutored students from preschool to 12th grade in Math, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Public Speaking. I have taught in elementary schools in GA and NC.
I stress the importance of practice in mastering taught and learned skills through reinforcement by assigning homework each night (including weekends) as a teacher including each session as a tutor. I believe it is important to have dialogue and provide the necessary feedback with my student(s) concerning the importance of completing homework; for this will assist the team (student, parent, and school teacher) in addressing areas where they may not understand a concept. I also provide constant constructive feedback to students and parents on student's performance through periodic assessments and progress reports. I believe through collaboration and discussion together (as a team) we can make a difference and help a student to exceed the team's highest expectations.
As a Special Education Teacher and Intervention Teacher, I have had extensive training in understanding the importance of and implementing specific designed instruction in Math Foundations for my students. As a result, I have had extensive growth in student performance from a range of half a grade level to two grade levels (depending on students learning ability).
As a Special Education Teacher and Intervention Teacher, I have had to prepare 3-5 grade students for state-wide writing assessments; which have focused on sentence structure and writing format.
As a Special Education Teacher and Intervention Teacher, I have provided comprehensive educational instructional support and progress monitoring to students from Kindergarten to Fifth Grade in mastering Common Core in collaboration with Literacy Instructional Support Teacher and General Education Teachers to ensure that students received full access to Reading/ Language Arts and Math content.
I enjoy connecting and inspiring students when they are just learning the foundations of subject areas. As a result, I strive to implement specific designed instruction centered around the arts and human experiences in order to inspire a student to want to learn. Thus, I have directly taught K-5 for 9 years and tutored for more than 10 years.

My base salary is $65/hour in-person and $35/hour online. I am generally available to tutor 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm (M-F) and 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (Weekends) during the regular traditional school year calendar. During the summer my availability can be flexible during the week, please contact me to make arrangements.
