University of North Carolina at Charlotte (BS Physics)
Growing up, I have always been interested (and still am) in two items...sports and science. In high school, I played varsity sports all while working towards an honors diploma geared toward math and science; I took AP physics, AP Calculus I & 2 my senior year. Math and science always came easy to me.
In college, I received a scholarship for academics and athletics to Northern Kentucky University. I played division 2 soccer while maintaining good grades working towards an Aerospace Engineering degree. After 2 years, my parents moved from Indianapolis to Charlotte. Northern Kentucky University did not have an actual degree for engineering, they provided the means of transferring after 2 years (Pre-engineering) and finish up at a larger university; i.e. getting all core classes done. After taking a couple Physics classes at UNC Charlotte, I was hooked. I finished up my degree in Physics and concentrated in mathematics as well.
During college, I would tutor kids in Calculus (1-4) just for fun. After college, here in Huntersville, I worked at Mathnasium for about 1 year tutoring kids from elementary school all the way up to Calculus III; I also worked as a tutor by myself for extra income throughout my life.
Having pursued a B.S. in Physics, I needed to have many types of math completed. Any students that need help in any math class I can provide experience and guidance. After he left, both my sons said he cleared many things up for them in their understanding of Calculus. Joe arrived on-time and was professional.
Personalized subject and able to target key aspects my son was missing. Very helpful to get him back on track.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing soccer since I was 4. I used to help coach younger and older kids every once in a while. I played in college and played for a top 5 division 2 team who are now a good division 1 program.
