I have twelve years of experience teaching and tutoring in university and community college settings, both in person and online, and I have also taught middle-school and college students abroad. I likely know quite well what your instructors are looking for in terms of your assignments and learning goals, and I also have taught a tutored a wide range students with a wide range of living circumstances and a wide range of educational needs.

I also have roughly eight years' experience as a copy editor and am well-versed in M.L.A., Chicago/Turabian, A.P.A., and Associated Press styles. Degrees (and areas of specialization) include a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication (Journalism) and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy, both from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke; a Master of Arts in Religion from the University of Florida; a Master of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; and I completed three years of Asian Religions Ph.D. coursework at the University of Florida.

I have roughly eight years of experience as a copy editor and am highly versed in M.L.A., Chicago/Turabian, A.P.A., and Associated Press styles.

Although I am not currently certified, I have a great deal of experience teaching, tutoring, and editing the work of ESL/EFL/ESOL individuals.

While my undergraduate BS is in mass communication, it is a journalism degree focused specifically on print journalism, in which I maintained a 4.0 GPA and edited a section of the university newspaper in addition to writing for three other newspapers. I have six years' experience teaching undergraduates, to include experience with one-on-one remedial instruction in English grammar and composition for paper writing, and I also taught a mythology course to middle-school-aged students which was focused strongly on literature and composition, to include journal-keeping and short-story writing. I am currently employed part-time as a tutor for Robeson [NC] Community College where I have been the go-to specialist in English, grammar, and composition/documentation/proofreading, and where I have provided tutoring instruction on par with that of the full-time English faculty. I also have provided professional copy editing and proofreading services to academic writers in the humanities and social sciences for the past six years.

I completed a bachelor of arts in philosophy and religion at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2006. I completed a master of arts in religion, specializing in religions of Asia, at the University of Florida in 2008. I completed PhD coursework majoring in Religions of Asia, and minoring in Religion and Nature/Ecology (including preliminary research in India) with Department of Religion, University of Florida, in 2013. I have two years' equivalency, each, in Sanskrit and Hindi. As a graduate student I taught for six years, either on my own, or as a teaching assistant providing a minimum of three hours a week per semester of teaching my own sections. I also taught mythology to middle school Indian students in Mysore, India, in summer 2013 and currently tutor part time in English, religion, and philosophy at a community college in southeast North Carolina.

Great tutor

Jimi was great with my 17yr old. Patient and kind, understanding. Really helped get our English grade up. Convenient, met in public, sent text with place to meet and a pic.
