About Jaclyn

Hello,

My name is Jaclyn and I would love to help you along your way. I am originally from Australia and have been helping with English reading and writing for years now. I took years off from school to travel and assist in ESL teaching throughout the world. I am now going back to school to get my Linguistics and Education Degree, and plan to pursue a PHD.

Since traveling and returning to school, the subjects I am able to tutor on has expanded, but remains within the English and Social Studies realm. I enjoy helping people get where they want to go. As for my tutoring style, I think I am warm, friendly and patient. I have been tutored before and I think people have the knowledge they just occasionally need a little help bringing to the front of their mind, that is where I come in. As for English Language tutoring, this is the career I will be in, I can help with any stage of learning but am currently not bilingual.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

I am currently completing a graduate degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Due to the nature of my degree, I have received high quality education and training in assisting individuals with Dyslexia who may be experiencing some academic difficulties. I am able to tutor students on a wide variety of academic topics, with a focus on reading and comprehension.

Speech

I am qualified to tutor speech because I am currently completing my graduate degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Finally, I have worked, as an ESL teacher in various countries, where I assisted students with a wide variety of speech needs.

Vocabulary

I am very confident with vocabulary and the use of words. I believe that in a professional world, a well rounded vocabulary is important.

Writing

I am able to help with many aspects of writing, how to write, sentence structure, types of essays, what should be included and many other aspects that a student may need help with.
