I have worked in two school systems, working with students in grades 6 - 12. I have also worked with home-bound, suspended, expelled and students with learning difficulties. I am extremely patient, outgoing, personable and organized. I am more than happy to provide references from parents, school administrators and others. I believe in a well-organized approach and like to create an atmosphere where the student is comfortable with me, thus creating productivity, learning and success. I have two children of my own and understand the importance of education and know that often times, students need the support of a tutor to help them achieve acceptable levels of academic success. I enjoy making learning fun and believe it can be.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with students from elementary to high school in the subject areas of English and grammar, helping them improve what they write, how they approach writing and English, and helping then learn the importance of both, as well as the skills that come along with these subjects.
I have helped several students with proof reading. I have proofed everything from grant proposals to term papers and book reports, as well as letters.
I have extensive experience in public speaking over ten years in the non-profit sector, as well as while serving in the United States Air Force and United States Army Reserves. I am a former member of Toastmasters International, a public speaking club, that meets regularly, in an effort to enhance public speaking skills. While working for the American Cancer Society, I received an award for my effective and professional communication skills.
