We will celebrate your student's commitment to succeed! I tutor students of all ages, elementary through adult. I believe that all students have the ability to improve and realize their potential as an individual learner.
My credentials include a BS from the University of Alabama with Elementary Education as my major course of study. I also studied journalism at U of A, and still love to capture events in writing! My background includes working as a tutor and visual artist. As an artist, I understand the importance of handwriting to the developing brain, and also as a beautiful way to express oneself, and offer lessons in this subject. Art lessons for the beginner are also offered.
I specialize in creating a comfortable learning environment for the high school student and mature student to learn concepts pertaining to Language Arts, reading, writing and basic math. Ms Elizabeth is a wonderful tutor who offers a wide variety of resources and experiences to keep my young child engaged.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Art is of particular interest to me, whether it be visual or performing art. I have a good working knowledge of the masters and 20th Century art. My art appreciation grew while taking an art history class that was a required class in my major at the University of Alabama. I believe that my knowledge of art would be useful in a tutoring capacity, particularly for the home schooled child.
I am a licensed teacher and a fine artist who loves to draw and work with students. I am scheduled to take the Praxis exam to be licensed to teach art in October. My work has been featured in several gallery shows, and I have been recognized publicly for my work.
Examples of my art can be viewed on request.
Thank you for your consideration.
