First of all, I love to teach. I home schooled my own children for years, and I get excited watching a student progress and master the areas in which they believe they have difficulties. Patience, and understanding that all students grasp and develop at differing levels, is the key to their success. Also, setting goals and developing those goals along side the student will guarantee they reach their full potential.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Social and Criminal Justice. Throughout my academic journey of acquiring this Bachelor's degree, I maintained a 4.0 gpa, and graduated Summa Cum Laude (Honor Society). Currently, I am working on a Master's in Education, with a specialization in Elementary education. Thus far, I continue to maintain a 4.0 gpa.
Thoroughout my professional career, I was a Licenced Practical Nurse, substituted at the elementary level, and worked in a variety of fields. I have always been very dedicated and focused to a task.
My teaching philosophy is this; I believe any child can be taught, and can be successful. Failure and defeat is not an option, and with the proper instruction, any student can overcome difficulties. Teaching requires a sense of humor, patience, the ability to listen, and the desire to help students succeed. I take a student's progress to heart. Their achievement is my achievement, and their success is my success. My goal is to provide students with the tools, information, knowledge, and skills necessary for them to reach their full potential. There is nothing more rewarding than to see that facial expression when they "get it", because then you know they are on their way to achievement.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
