Hi! My name is Brianna T., and I'm an experienced cellist and general musician. I attended Oberlin Conservatory for my undergraduate studies, and won the position as Principal Cellist of the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra at 21-years old. I'm also Assistant Principal of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and have been serving that position since I was 19-years old. Hi! My name is Brianna T., and I'm an experienced cellist and general musician. I attended Oberlin Conservatory for my undergraduate studies, and won the position as Principal Cellist of the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra at 21-years old. I'm also Assistant Principal of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and have been serving that position since I was 19-years old. I was an active cello teacher while I was in high school, but have not had the times or means to start teaching again since then. I would love to get back into teaching, as I believe that sharing our craft is an essential aspect of being a musician!

In terms of music theory, I had high marks in all of my music theory courses, and have maintained my music theory knowledge after leaving Oberlin, so I am comfortable helping students with music theory questions ranging from basic theory, to species counterpoint, and even to early 20th-century music analysis. I know how confusing some of the concepts can be, so I want to help students understand the material better, both for their grades and for their personal musicianship. I look forward to working with you!

My goal is to bring out the best from each student. Although I've had success as a cellist, it came with many years of dedication, hard work, and critical thinking. I want to help guide students through their journey so that they can reach whatever level of proficiency that they desire - both in cello performance and music theory. My profile focuses largely on cello performance, but I'm constantly applying music theory skills in my practice, so I think it's important to have that knowledge as any musician.

Hi! My name is Brianna, and I am an alumni from Oberlin Conservatory where I studied Cello Performance. My 15 years of performance experience, as well as my experiences working with many renowned cellists helps guide me on how to best serve my students' needs. Teaching Philosophy: My passion for teaching comes from a place of wanting to share my knowledge with others in order to help them achieve their musical goals, whether they want to pursue a strictly classical route, venture into video game music, or rock out on 2Cellos' music. Although most of my career has been classical, I've more recently had more experience with rock and roll, hip hop, and pop, which allows me the flexibility to teach a variety of genres. I do believe that having a strong technical foundation is important, but, more importantly, it's critical to train the mind to practice efficiently and effectively. Students will find that our lessons are largely about how to reach your goals in an efficient, stress-free way, since many people do not have the time to practice many hours a day. I also have a strong background in Alexander Technique, so we will focus on using as little energy as possible in order to create the desired results. Qualifications: When I was 19, I won the position as Assistant Principal of Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, then when I was 21, I won the position as Principal Cellist of the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra. I was also a winner of the American Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition, a finalist in the Rosen-Schaffel Concerto Competition, and Second Prize winner of the Music Academy of North Carolina Strings Competition. In addition to classical music, I'm well-versed in other genres. I'm currently an electric cellist in a hip hop band, and I often compose my own music to perform on my electric cello with a loop pedal. This was our first session and my first lesson to learn to play the Cello. Very fun, and not intimidating at all. She had some great tips and I can’t wait for another lesson.

My son enjoyed his lesson with Brianna. He was extremely rusty after having a lapse of lessons for almost 2 months but Brianna was kind and patient and she kept an 8 year old boy engaged for the full hour of cello. She would be a welcome addition to any child who needs music instruction.

Mindful, engaging and authentic tutor

We are so thankful to have found Brianna to teach our daughter cello. Even though she was in school orchestra and GTCYS (Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies), our daughter still didn't feel challenged enough and needed a personal touch to bring her cello skills to the next level. Brianna was quick to identify her needs and did so with patience and understanding. She met our daughter where she was at, providing her with fundamental tools that she hadn’t been getting in group practice.
