First off, I specialize in English Language Comprehension, Grammar, and Essay writing. Yes, I also believe strongly in the use of the Oxford Comma, as displayed in the previous sentence. However, I am fluent in many other areas, such as pre-algebra, basic math skills, as well as the other subjects listed on my profile. I just very much love to teach, but my skills work best on one-on-one sessions so that I may better adapt to my student. I try my best to use various teaching techniques that will progress my students and help them succeed.
For about three years, I have been working independently, offering my skills to international students looking to grasp a better understanding of the English language. I also have been spending a portion of that time tutoring tutors in teaching methods that work best for international students, especially when there is a language barrier. I use universal signals, pictures, and basic reading materials to teach the language from scratch. In a way, I also teach myself portions of the language level relevant to my student.
Currently, I am employed in one of Greensboro's many public libraries as a Programs Assistant, which basically means I assistant any patron that needs help, from finding materials that are relevant to them, all the way to basic tutorials in using computer programs and short essay proofreading (even if that is not in my job description). I am also a part time student at UNCG majoring in English with an education focus.
One thing I believe that is a need-to-know about me is that I provide specialized tutoring, not for monetary gain, but for the sole purpose of spreading knowledge and helping others to reach their goals. I believe that everyone has their shortcomings when learning various things and I want to help spread the same techniques taught to me to others who may struggle with learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I played Chess since I was 10 with my father. He taught me the ins and outs of it. When I reached 8th grade, I was playing an the Chess club in my Middle School and taking on my older brothers. I may not be the best, but I know where to start and I know how to teach others the basics of Chess.
I am proficient in elementary math and i have methods that will let my students grasp and retain any specific areas that they may struggle in.
Public Speaking is something that many teens struggle with. I was included in this category when I was a teen myself. I found that through arousing passion for subjects, simple psychological exercises, exposure, confidence boosting, and in depth researching of topics to be presented, anyone can overcome the fear and restraints of public speaking. After crossing that bridge, I help modify and correct body language, use simple techniques to prevent filler words, and show when it is appropriate to use hand motions or movement while speaking.
