About JTaime

A native of North Carolina, I earned my BA from Wake Forest University and my NC teaching license in 2013. All through college, I worked as a tutor and tutored privately before college since 2008. My tutoring experiences span from pre-kindergarten through junior and senior level college mathematics and history courses, as well as adult education.

My first year, I taught in a small charter school where I functioned as a kindergarten teacher and was also responsible for occasionally teaching grades 1 to 2. For the past three years, I have worked at a low- performing elementary school teaching all subjects in 5th grade. During my time at my school, we exceeded growth within the subjects I taught and were removed from the low- performing list in NC. My End of Grade passage rate is 88% for math and science and 66% in reading for 5th grade.

Most recently, I have been working daily with elementary students who have high social and emotional needs and created an after- school tutoring program in the communities which we serve.

As a student, math was my favorite subject. It was a subject that followed concrete theories. Using my own knowledge as a student, I formulated high impact lessons and activities to meet the learning styles of all students. My End of Grade passage rate is 88% (Level 4 or 5).

I am an outstanding Common Core tutor because I have taught using the Common Core curriculum for 4 years and understanding the ins and outs of it.

My high- impact experience teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade have given me the ability to personally see the vertical alignments. With my awareness of vertical alignment, I know what gaps may be hindering your students from success and also the next steps to getting them above the bar. My success rate with End of Grade passing rates as a teacher are above the state average.

If you want to improve your knowledge and enjoy learning, I am the tutor for you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am an experienced teacher of Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. My experiences are rich in the beginning to the end of the elementary school spectrum, but not limited. I thoroughly enjoying inspiring students to aim higher. I have a proven record of helping children at all levels excel at reading by pinpointing their exact need and strengthening it through targeted practice. I have a passion for math and science as well. As a teacher, I have grown over 96% of my class a year or more in math and reading. Due to teaching in all levels of elementary, I have seen how skills build upon one another and have effective strategies to ensure your students masters any skill. With my awareness of vertical alignment, I know what gaps may be hindering your students from success and also the next steps to getting them above the bar. My success rate with End of Grade passing rates as a teacher are above the state average. I am highly trained in common core in multiple states.
