I first began teaching English to non-native speakers when I lived in South America. I love working with people from other countries and helping them to improve their fluency in English. I have taught adult education in different programs for many years. Since I have experienced what it is like to live in a different country and learn a new language myself, I understand many of the difficulties that English language learners experience.
I have certificates in TESOL from University of Wisconsin (through TESOL International Association) and University of the Nations, YWAM, Lebanon, PA. I have taught General English in adult education programs in Illinois and Pennsylvania, and also have been an instructor for international students in an Intensive English Program in Greensboro, NC.
My first step is to talk with you about what YOU think are your difficulties with English. Then I will do some assessments and design a program that meets your individual needs. I am available for either short- or long-term tutoring. There is no minimum or maximum number of lessons required; tutoring is designed to meet your specific needs.
Would you like to work on accent reduction and improve your pronunciation? Or do you want to learn to read and write better in English? Maybe your goal is simply to be able understand what is said to you and to have people be able to understand you. Whatever your desires and goals are,
I look forward to working together with you to help you achieve those goals. Contact me to discuss details! I first began teaching English to non-native speakers when I lived in South America. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have visited several foreign countries and have lived and worked overseas. I am familiar with the difficulties of learning a new language and culture! I have taught ESL/TESOL classes overseas and here in the United States, and currently work with international students from various countries. I have a B.A. in Secondary Education and a certificate in TESOL.
