The company I own recently opened it's recording studio and rehearsal studio to the public for lessons and tutoring. We offer a vocal booth, guitar booth, drum room, a rehearsal studio, and audio control room for teachers to give vocal, music, dance, audio engineering, videography, and music production lessons.
For some reason or other, in every job I take, I am almost always placed to train the new hires. I have always loved teaching and it comes from my mother who was a teacher for 35 years. I have the same inquisitive and patient attitude that she has and I believe this is essential for any teacher. Also, I must teach with humor because I've found anyone I've taught in the past always retains what they learned with humor.
I graduated from UNCG with a degree in English and a minor in Chemistry. The Chemistry was difficult every step of the way and there is a reason I am not tutoring Chemistry! I loved English and the way it caused me to change my perspective and open my mind. I have been playing drums for 15 years, have been in several bands and recorded albums. For the past few years I have been producing music on the latest versions of Pro Tools and recording in the studio a business partner and I developed into a business.
I took drum lessons for several years and then kept practicing and playing in bands, always trying to broaden my musical taste. I enjoy all kinds of percussion and lately you can find me in Guitar Center playing on hand drums or those super expensive electronic kits. I love percussion because anything I hear can be turned into a beat. I have been producing my own music for the past few years and have taught myself how to use the latest version of Pro Tools. (It's nice when there is someone else to teach you though because the learning curve is steep!)
I am currently trying to get my media production company and recording studio off of the ground and I love to show others how it works. I also love to talk and teach about English because of the invigorating thought it provokes in me and this gives me a chance to do both! Contact me and I promise we will have a great time learning and laughing. The company I own recently opened it's recording studio and rehearsal studio to the public for lessons and tutoring. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing drums for over 15 years. I would consider myself competent in rock, hip-hop, Latin, and Western African styles. I have taught lessons a few times before when I was in high school. The drums and percussion are one of my passions.
English was my major in college and I have a passion for all aspects of English including grammar, literature, humanities, and writing.
I have spent the last few years of my life learning the insides of the music business on my own for my recording studio and production company. I took several general music courses in college that I took great satisfaction and great grades. A lot of these courses helped me understand the evolution of music in history.
I have been producing music for several years using Pro Tools primarily and Logic occasionally. My partner and I own a recording studio in Greensboro which we have used to track several bands and I have used specifically to mix their tracks.
I have an English Degree, and previous Writing tutoring with elementary students.
