In my last position at the Greensboro News & Record, I gained considerable practice in writing and proofing briefs on Internet trends as the paper adapted to digital media from newsprint. I also have several years training in performing regular, technical research of census data, archived stories, and online databases, such as LexisNexis, for reporters and editors alike—much of it conducted on deadline for the next edition.
I have also had the privilege of supervising undergraduate employees in UNCG’s Office of Admissions and serving as a youth counselor at my church.

Identity theft on the Internet has become so rampant that the crime now has something like its own commodities exchange, Web security firm Finjan reports. Whereas stolen personal data used to sell for more than $100, passwords, Web cookies and account numbers now go for as little as $10 or $20. Finjan's study found an elaborate hierarchy of kingpins and "underbosses" akin to a Mafia racket - complete with subordinates who are rewarded according to their theft rates and for pilfering corporate credit cards with high spending limits. Finjan chalks up the new economies of scale not only to the sheer volume of vulnerable data, but to an emerging, separate market for electronic records to aid in the more lucrative offenses of medical insurance fraud and illegally traded pharmaceuticals.
Finjan also discovered a mass assault against more than 1,000 government, health care and corporate Web sites that began in May.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
